ROBO LOVE!!

I keep not posting because I want to give you this pretarded Ben Sidran track but I can't find the CDR it's burned on. (My turntables are unhooked, dormant, lame.) So here's Jay Burnett's "Drum Machine." I think this may be on a compilation somewhere but fuck that collector thinking. It will do you right, this much I know.

Burnett was the musician/engineer involved with "Planet Rock," and dozens of other early hip-hop killers. This, the first version, was released on Jayco Records in 1982 and credited to Drum Machine. I am not sure who does the vocal, but there are three songwriting credits on the record, one each, I am assuming, for Burnett, the man singer and the lady singer. "Drum Machine" was bafflingly re-released in 1985 on Def Jam, modified by the addition of a vocal from MCA of the Beasties and some pixie dust from Arthur Baker, another "Planet Rock" alumnus.

My turntables don't work etc, so I haven't heard the Def Jam version in ages. I think I like the original version better.

There's not much to say—big ass pseudo toms, elephant fart bassline, killer clomp steez. Let there be bass.
